The Tesla Cybertruck: My Journey and Expectations
I've been driving the Tesla Cybertruck for a year now, and I must say, it continues to surprise and delight me with its innovative engineering and meticulous design. Each new discovery only reinforces my admiration for the strides Tesla has made in creating the automotive future.
High-Quality Installation and Hidden Features
Recently, I installed the cargo net for the frunk, which was a simple yet effective touch. The net from the Tesla Shop is of amazing high quality and was incredibly easy to install. The design of the mounting under an easy-to-pop-out panel is just brilliant; Tesla thought through every detail, including special shields to prevent losing the screws when reinstalling. The 2 L-track plates allow for quick and easy access to the cargo net, making it a must-have for anyone who frequently carries heavy items.
In addition, I installed the new storage box under the back seats with equal ease. The storage box is both high-quality and extremely easy to install, adding a layer of functionality to the Cybertruck. Moreover, there are hidden attachment points for future devices in the frunk, along with a power wire that can be activated from the main touch screen. These features are well thought out and cater to a wide range of users, even those who might not immediately need them.
Advanced Technology and Features
FSD (Full Self-Drive) has worked great, and the auto park feature is simply amazing. I've heard complaints about fingerprints on the outside stainless steel surfaces, but my local Crew Car Wash offers an advanced wash feature that puts a coat of ceramic wax on the vehicle, removing any fingerprints and other marks. We hid the car wash sticker under the windshield wiper for easy access. A quick sweep of the wiper exposes the scan code to the automatic recognition feature of the car wash system, ensuring no human intervention is needed.
I'm confident I'll continue to discover more new and exciting features as I enjoy my amazing Cybertruck. Tesla's dedication to innovation and high-quality design is evident in every detail.
Reservations and Future Prospects
A2A, I hold 3 Cybertruck reservations and have not yet purchased one. The rolling stone predicted the CT to be a flop, but many of the 2 million reservations are still in the pipeline. People like me are watching and waiting to see how the future unfolds.
Why are people waiting? Fundamental reasons include the desire to see how the Tesla Cybercab turns out, the anticipation for Cybertruck improvements and lower prices, and the wait for more advanced V2G (Vehicle to Grid) technology. I am optimistic because the Cybertruck represents a significant step forward in the industry. It is a technology platform that will result in big changes in automotive tech as time goes on.
For my secondary interest, the Cybertruck is seen as a potential mobile battery for solar homes and businesses. With the Cybertruck's 9 Powerwalls equivalent, it offers unmatched portability and usability. However, the current price is still too high for my blood, and I am waiting for the price to come down.
The towing performance is another area of concern. Recent reports indicate poor towing range and some towing failures due to the rear aluminum casting. I'm hopeful that these issues will be addressed and improved in the future.
As for the Tesla Cybercab, I believe I would rather buy it when it is ready for use since it can hold 2 people and a lot of luggage, making it ideal for short-distance trips. It is priced at ~30K, making it a more affordable option than the ~80K for the Cybertruck.
Overall, the Cybertruck represents a significant step forward towards a better-designed vehicle capable of doing many things well. Though it is not yet perfected, new technologies are likely to continue improving it. As for towing, more development is needed to make it a better option. And for Cybercab use, I want to see the Tesla Cybercab when it is ready. For now, I am waiting and not in a hurry.
